Hi I'm MarlaJan (or Marla, MJ)! I'm a thirty-something pediatric cardiac ICU nurse (currently on disability), patient advocate, and I blog over at www.luckfupus.com, a lupus awareness blog, which won the 2014 WEGO Health Hilarious Health Activist Award. I was officially diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (lupus or SLE) at the age of 26. Lupus has exponentially changed every aspect of my life, including forcing me to leave a career I loved. As a lupus sufferer, I hope to bring awareness to this little-known, devastating, incurable disease, and while I'll always keep it real, be prepared for heavy doses of humor and sarcasm! I'm also a congenital heart defect survivor (tetralogy of Fallot), and a breast cancer previvor (mastectomy 12/1/14), so there is a great deal of information I can bring to the table. I love connecting with other's who live with lupus, and look forward to leading this community. MoreLess

I am a young older woman. I am beautiful, inside and out. I have a wonderful husband of 32 years and very accepting, loving friends. I do Kundalini Yoga at least once a week with a great group of like minded, strong people. We have a fabulous instructor who has a wealth of information not only about Kundalini Yoga, but about many subjects ranging from our Earth and how to help it survive to inter-personal relationships. In general I have a great life. I do have emotional and physical problems; depression and generalized anxiety disorder along with hypothyroidism, high blood pressure (controlled by medication), being overweight, and the pain of arthritis, fibromyalgia and scar tissue from way too many surgeries.
